In-Home Family Services

HOW IT STARTED

Throughout Ecuador, many families are in crisis, however not every family needs the children to be taken out of the home. In 2020, the Hacienda of Hope paired with local children’s services agencies in order to offer in-home services in order to reduce the trauma of children being removed from their families.

WHAT WE DO

The therapy team will go in about 3 times a week and provide counseling, family therapy, education, and implementation of protection systems in order to help a family through whatever problems they may be facing. This project has been a great way to get into the community and prevent children from being removed from their homes and put into institutionalized care. The families that we have been able to help have benefitted greatly from the services offered and over 80% have been able to overcome their circumstances and better their family dynamics, all while the children maintain structure in their home environment.

SUCCESS STORY

The family of Renaldo had left him locked at home when they went out shopping. The Child Protective Services sent the case to us so that we could teach the parents how to properly care for their children. However, as we worked with the family, we realized that the abandonment was just the beginning. The family had marital and interpersonal relationship problems, no idea how to discipline properly, and no structure within the home. Our team worked for almost a year with the family helping them with their relationships, structure, and discipline strategies. At the end of the year, there was a notable difference in the interactions between the children and the parents, the house was organized, and the children were no longer afraid of getting in trouble. This family learned invaluable tips and strategies to make home life more peaceful and better organized.
